How do you measure success? I’ve dealt with a lot and it’s taken a lot of energy to carry on swimming and not sink with simply living and trying to stay balanced with myself. I give myself credit for building on skills by myself. Looking back I always seem to take the more difficult route as if I’m trying to prove something to myself which no one else will see or appreciate. I do try hard in thinking alternatively and understanding other people’s thoughts and processes. I don’t often think this life is for me. Sometimes just an ingredient to someone else’s. I don’t know what would make me feel successful; I’m working on that. What really feeling fulfilling. It’s difficult trying to figure it out while feeling like you’re being battered at all angles with just being here. I’m working on it.
Recipe of the Month: Abundance of Biscuits
Erica is our resident baker in the office. Every month when it’s a staff member’s birthday Erica puts together a beautiful creation.
She says about this recipe, “I wish I could take the credit for this recipe but it’s one of my favourite. Cheap to make and it makes a lot of cookies per batch!!” We can’t wait to try this one at home ourselves.

That’s the story in Australia
So if WA gets hit hard with COVID19 we are in trouble.
Spent last night in hospital – likely respiratory infection but cannot rule out COVID19. Sent home to self isolate and go back if chest gets worse but was not eligible for the test. Yes, 39 degree temp, razor blade throat and general flu like symptoms – not eligible. I thought we were first world not third world?
Went to Murdoch private emergency – they turned me away as can’t deal with COVID19.
Went to Fiona Stanley and all I can say is what a shit show. Upon arrival the triage nurse asked (after explaining symptoms) – so what do you want? Medical attention or testing or what?…. I was like fuck you (I didn’t say that but reminded her of COVID19 outbreak).
Got put into an isolation room with no bed and once hooked up the equipment gave false readings saying my HR was 260 – so they gave me an ECG, drip with fluid plus heaps of other things all because of a dodgey monitor.
The Dr was great and reassured me everything was ok as were the nurses.
All I can say is that unless you can’t breath and are older – don’t bother with hospital. Load up on Panadol and Nurofen plus drink heaps of water and stay in bed.
So now I’m home, shaking off this temp – none the wiser and potentially infecting my family.
This was the comment below
This has just been forwarded to me from a friend at the ED at the base.
this is advice given to hospital staff. Explains the virus and how to prevent the virus. Please share with family , friends and work colleagues.
Internal email for RBH (Royal Brisbane Hospital) staff:
The simplest way to distinguish Coronavirus from a Common Cold is that the COVID-19 infection does not cause a cold nose or cough with cold, but it does create a dry and rough cough.
The virus is typically first installed in the throat causing inflammation and a feeling of dryness. This symptom can last between 3 and 4 days.
The virus typically then travels through the moisture present in the airways, goes down to the trachea and installs in the lungs, causing pneumonia that lasts about 5 or 6 days.
Pneumonia manifests with a high fever and difficulty breathing. The Common Cold is not accompanied, but there may be a choking sensation. In this case, the doctor should be called immediately.
Experts suggest doing this simple verification every morning: Breathe in deeply and hold your breath for 10 seconds. If this can be done without coughing, without difficulty, this shows that there is no fibrosis in the lungs, indicating the absence of infection. It is recommended to do this control every morning to help detect infection.
The virus hates heat and dies if it is exposed to temperatures greater than 80°F (27°C). Therefore hot drinks such as infusions, broths or simply hot water should be consumed abundantly during the day. These hot liquids kill the virus and are easy to ingest.
Avoid drinking ice water or drinks with ice cubes.
Ensure that your mouth and throat are always wet, never DRY. You should drink a sip of water at least every 15 minutes. WHY? Even when the virus enters water or other liquids through the mouth, it will get flushed through the oesophagus directly into the stomach where gastric acids destroy the virus. If there is not enough water, the virus can pass into the trachea and from there to the lungs, where it is very dangerous.
For those who can, sunbathe. The Sun’s UV rays kill the virus and the vitamin D is good for you.
The Coronavirus has a large size (diameter of 400-500 nanometers) so face masks can stop it, no special face masks are needed in daily life.
If an infected person sneezes near us, stay 10 feet (3.3 meters) away to allow the virus fall to the ground and prevent it from falling on you.
When the virus is on hard surfaces, it survives about 12 hours, therefore when hard surfaces such as doors, appliances, railings, etc. are touched, hands should be washed thoroughly and/or disinfected with alcoholic gel
The virus can live nested in clothes and tissues between 6 and 12 hours. Common detergents can kill it. Things that cannot be washed should be exposed to the Sun and the virus will die.
The transmission of the virus usually occurs by direct infection, touching fabrics, tissues or materials on which the virus is present.
Washing your hands is essential.
The virus survives on our hands for only about 10 minutes. In that time many things can happen, rubbing the eyes, touching the nose or lips. This allows the virus to enter your throat. Therefore, for your good and the good of all, wash your hands very often and disinfect them.
You can gargle with disinfectant solutions (i.e. Listerine or Hydrogen Peroxide) that eliminate or minimize the amount of virus that can enter the throat. Doing so removes the virus before it goes down to the trachea and then to the lungs.
Disinfect things touched often: cellphone, keyboard, mouse, car steering wheel, door handles, etc
Congratulations for the post comment.
Best Home Remedies For Toothache
Pepper and salt
Salt mixed with pepper can be relieving for a sensitive tooth as both have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Mix equal amounts of pepper and common salt with a few drops of water and apply the mixture directly on the affected tooth for a few minutes.
Garlic can provide relief from toothache given its antibiotic and other medicinal properties.
Mix crushed garlic (or garlic powder) with table salt or black salt and apply it directly on the affected tooth for pain relief.
Alternatively, you can chew one or two cloves of garlic for relief.
Given their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant and anesthetic properties cloves help alleviate tooth pain and infection.
Grind two whole cloves and mix in a little olive oil or any vegetable oil and apply on the affected tooth.
Alternatively, like your dentist, you can dip a cotton ball in clove oil and rub it directly on the affected area.
Mix a few drops of clove oil in half a glass of water and use it as a mouth rinse.
Onions are known for their antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, which are important to treat a sore tooth. They can provide pain relief by killing infection-causing germs.
At the first indication of trouble, chew raw onion for a few minutes to relieve the pain in the tooth.
If you are unable to chew it, place a piece of raw onion directly on the affected area.
Asafetida is very useful in treating dental problems such as toothaches and bleeding gums.
Add a pinch of powdered asafetida to two teaspoons of lemon juice and let it warm up a little. Apply the solution on the affected area with a cotton pad.
Warm salt water
For basic treatment, try a glass of warm salt water to remedy a toothache.
Mix half a spoon of common salt in a glass of hot water and rinse your mouth thoroughly.
This will help reduce swelling and inflammation and also fight infection-causing bacteria.
In large part to their anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial properties, fresh guava leaves can also alleviate toothache.
Chew on one or two guava leaves until the juice starts working on the affected area. You can also chew on raw spinach leaves for the same effect.
Another way to treat a painful tooth is to mix guava leaves in boiling water. Allow the solution to cool and rinse your mouth with it.
Vanilla extract is also a very effective home remedy for treating dental problems since it numbs the pain. Also, the vanilla has a calming effect.
Dip a cotton swab in vanilla extract and dab it on the affected area.
Wheatgrass has natural antibacterial properties that assist in remedying tooth decay and toothache. Extract the juice of wheatgrass and rinse your mouth with it.
The extract will absorb toxins from the gums, cut down on bacteria and control the infection. Alternatively, you can simply chew on wheatgrass.
Ice can help alleviate tooth pain by numbing the nerve endings.
Wrap a small ice cube in a thin cotton cloth. Hold it on your cheek near the aching tooth for a few minutes. If you have exposed nerves, contact with the cold can cause more pain.

Asian Supermarkets Go Back To Using Leaves Instead Of Plastic
It should be one of the main goals in today’s society to reduce plastic consumption and to educate people on the environmental and global changes and problems that we are currently facing. Even though many of us believe that recycling will solve the problem, and continue using plastic, it is the complete opposite. In 2013, 254 million tonnes of trash was produced in the U.S. alone, and only around 30% was recycled. This means that the rest ended up in a landfill and will stay there for up to 1000 years creating toxic gas, polluting the earth and even ending up in the oceans killing many innocent creatures. Since most of us don’t get to see the reality, which is often hidden from us, there is an important task to educate people and to open their eyes to understand that the plastic packaging that we use for a couple of seconds will take up to 1000 years to decompose.
To start a positive change, supermarkets across Asia have started using leaves to pack their vegetables
This type of packaging is not only cost-efficient it also saves so much plastic that would otherwise be recycled or would end up in a landfill.
Recently, China has stopped importing trash from all over the world and concentrated on recycling their waste. Before this, over 30% of the world’s waste would end up in China causing a popular belief that Asian countries are those responsible for creating the majority of the waste in the world. Now, Asian countries, including Vietnam and Thailand, are looking for new ways to avoid plastic at all. This became a solid ground for new business ideas. One of those ideas was a new, eco-friendly way to pack their goods by avoiding plastic packaging.
Perfect Homes Chiangmai’s post about this type of wrapping quickly went viral
One of their team members noticed a creative way to reduce plastic that a supermarket called Rimping Supermarket was using and decided to capture their shelves with their phones. Little did they know that people from all around the world would love this idea and would start sharing it like crazy. “We just popped in to get a few items while we were waiting to sign some contracts with our lawyer, who was delayed, so we were not even meant to be there at that time. When I noticed the veg wrapped in banana leaves and simply liked the idea ad showed my wife who picked a few up to buy. I thought I would take a few pictures and just post to the page, and that was it,” in an interview with Bored Panda said one of the team members who took these pictures.
With more than 3.5 million views and over 17 thousand shares, the idea became something people can encourage more supermarkets to implement. “I had no idea it was going to go viral, I was shocked when it hit 20 shares. It was not until the morning while I was in the gym that I started to realized what was happening, I pointed out to Stig my friend that it had now something like a thousand shares ad that this was crazy. Once we had finished the session an hour later it had nearly doubled that is when it started to go off!”
Some have noticed that not everything on the shelves is completely plastic-free, to which the supermarket responded that they are taking one step at a time and trying their best, but it’s not that easy. Many products come to the supermarkets pre-packaged and many companies are interested in wrapping their produce in plastic since it is the cheapest and the easiest option. “I feel it is now up to the shoppers to show the supermarket which they prefer. Because without a doubt if everyone opts for the banana leaf packaging then they will stop stocking the items in plastic and this will also drive other great ideas forward.”
Every piece of plastic that was ever made still exists on this planet
Secrets of Life –
Be the most honest person that you know. Be trustworthy – worthy of the trust of others.
Curb your worldly desires and you will strengthen your will. He who is deeply bound to material things runs into difficulty and unhappiness when they are taken away. Happy people enjoy worldly objects but do not become bound or wedded to them. Live a simple, uncluttered and productive existence. To simplify your life today, consider selling your television, stopping the junk mail, spending less, learning yoga, selling your car, practising meditation every morning and unplugging your ringing phone once in a while.
If you have not laughed today, you have not lived today. Laugh hard and loud. As William James said: “we don’t laugh because we are happy, we are happy because we laugh.”
Travel often. The perspective offered by visiting new lands is important and allows one to appreciate the existence that we generally take for granted.
Each month set a physical fitness goal for yourself. Start to swim in July or learn to ski in January. The key is to arrive at a goal for the month, write it down, consider how to execute it and then, as the NIKE ad says: “Just Do It!”.
Things are always created twice. There is always the mental creation which precedes the physical creation. Just as plans for a house must first be set down on paper before the house is started, so too should your day be planned within your mind early in the morning before the day begins. Visualize the wonders you desire this life to bring and they will materialize as your subconscious mind starts to focus on the attainment of goals. This is a true law of Nature.
Walk to work and notice the wonderful beauty in Nature.
Sleep less, spend less, do more, live longer and be greater.

Growin’ up in rural parts and livin’ “Hill e billy,”
Uncle Ede lived 100 + (years) , and he was mighty silly,
BUT he had great wisdom, he did to flourish and stay alive:
“Sweat a lot in summer,” He said; “it’s a good way to thrive,
AND have lots of colds in The Winter, but keep on goin’ still;
Don’t rest too much in bed or hurt your head,
By poppin’ any pill.
JUST SWEAT A LOT WHEN SWEATIN’s GOOD,
AND, IN WINTER, WELL YOU KNOW YOU WOULD,
SWEAT THEN TOO, BUT IT’S PRETTY COLD,
