Famous Poet

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door
“‘Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more”

“The Raven”
Edgar Allan Poe

“Star of Ethiopia” Lucian B. Watkins

Out in the Night thou art the sun
Toward which thy soul-charmed children run,
The faith-high height whereon they see
The glory of their Day To Be—
The peace at last when all is done
The night is dark but, one by one,
Thy signals, ever and anon,
Smile beacon answers to their plea,
Out in the Night
Ah, Life! thy storms these cannot shun;
Give them a hope to rest upon,
A dream to dream eternally,
The strength of men who would be free
And win the battle race begun,
Out in the Night!

“The Heart of a Woman” Georgia Douglas Johnson💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

The heart of a woman goes forth with the dawn,
As a lone bird, soft winging, so restlessly on,
Afar o’er life’s turrets and vales does it roam
In the wake of those echoes the heart calls home
The heart of a woman falls back with the night,
And enters some alien cage in its plight,
And tries to forget it has dreamed of the stars
While it breaks, breaks, breaks on the sheltering bars

“Fire and Ice” Robert Frost💥💥

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice
From what I’ve tasted of desire,
I hold with those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

There you can be sure you are not beyond love.💥💥💥💥

When your eyes are tired
the world is tired also.

When your vision has gone,
no part of the world can find you.

Time to go into the dark
where the night has eyes
to recognize its own.

There you can be sure
you are not beyond love.

The dark will be your home

The night will give you a horizon
further, than you can see.

You must learn one thing.
The world was made to be free in.

Give up all the other worlds
except the one to which you belong.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn

anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive

“The Kraken” Alfred Lord Tennyson💥💥💥💥💥

Below the thunders of the upper deep,
Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea,
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides; above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous grot and secret cell
Unnumber’d and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green
There hath he lain for ages, and will lie
Battening upon huge sea-worms in his sleep,
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die

“Afternoon on a Hill” Edna St. Vincent Millay💥💥💥

I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.

I will look at cliffs and clouds
With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
And the grass rise.

And when lights begin to show
Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
And then start down!

Here’s a poem by Emily Dickinson:💥💥💥💥💥💥

“Hope” is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all
And sweetest in the Gale is heard
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm
I’ve heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest Sea
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb — of Me.

Percy Shelley🤓

I’m a big fan of Mary Shelley and her husband Percy Shelley, and they were good friends with Lord Byron, so I felt like reading up on him.

“Misconceptions” Robert Browning

This is a spray the Bird clung to,
Making it blossom with pleasure,
Ere the high tree-top she sprung to,
Fit for her nest and her treasure
O, what a hope beyond measure
Was the poor spray’s, which the flying feet hung to,—
So to be singled out, built in, and sung to!
This is a heart the Queen leant on,
Thrill’d in a minute erratic,
Ere the true bosom she bent on,
Meet for love’s regal dalmatic
O, what a fancy ecstatic
Was the poor heart’s, ere the wanderer went on—
Love to be saved for it, proffer’d to, spent on!

“TAPESTRY!’ a poem. Written in Odessa, Texas, on the day after Sam’s gall bladder surgery. May 29, 2018.

The enfoldment of each day (pause)

Can-be-challenging, I say!

It-might glorify this life,

But can fill you with such strife,

And what more can you do?

But try to see it through?

And hope the days we greet,

Are ones that have SOME sweet,

To BALANCE tension –

(And) -to,

Provide a fabric rich,

A tapestry, whose stitch,

Is subtle and sublime,

Providing ordered rhyme,

With caring smiles, soothing,

All-threads, so we-are-”grooving,”

Along this tenuous way,

We touch and laugh and pray,

“Monna Innominata” Christina Rossetti💜

I wish I could remember that first day,
First hour, first moment of your meeting me,
If bright or dim the season, it might be
Summer or Winter for aught I can say;
So unrecorded did it slip away,
So blind was I to see and to foresee,
So dull to mark the budding of my tree
That would not blossom for many a May
If only I could recollect it, such
A day of days! I let it come and go
As traceless as a thaw of bygone snow;
It seemed to mean so little, meant so much;
If only now I could recall that touch,
First touch of hand in hand – Did one but know!

Mister Magoo Theory

That desperate person
clinging on to a
blinding smoky vision
embedded in the
swinging near miss
of a guillotine,
doctors all evidence
for prime time.

We know that
down to the demise
of our closest loved ones,
and into the river
and tides that
surround them
and yet simultaneously
guide our lack
of vision away
from that level of healing.

We know how to see,
but as of yet
choose not too
as we avert devastation
through the blinded,
previously undiscovered
link between manifestation
and real life.

…..Hallucination….. The warm sunshine of the morning appears to remind our young love. Innocent love of prime time like petrichor can be felt even today if you look as I used to hook your image in mind. I know, nobody will bring you back and I wish you return as your memories appears suddenly sometimes with warm sunshine, and sometimes I begin to miss you as the most necessary task of mine. You tell me too what you did missing to me. Whether same is the sun rises in your city. Or is it just the hallucination that the sun rises to shine and sets to shed you with me everyday. 2018 – Heartbreak” 💜

“THE NECESSITIES OF LIFE!” a poetic string. a.k.a.: “Necessities Pie!” Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

PART 1 (The Baby In Us All speaks – Shall we listen and not judge? 🙂 )

I want it now – I WANT IT ALL,

I WANT – Everything! (pause)

Now! (pause)

MOST everything,

Mostly NOW,

Most-o’-the-Time-is (pause)

Fair!? (pause)

Where’s MY STUFF? I want it so much:

YOU PAY! Come-on! Don’t take me “dutch!!”

Where is it?

I-need-it-NOW – and

Is it?

It’s NOT!

PART 2 (Sweet Simplicity)

It’s JUST – a morning cup of coffee,

It’s just an evening cup of tea,

It’s just about holding-your-hand,

It’s just about cuddles and a kiss here and there,

It’s just about necessities: A pair of shoes to wear,

A flower in your hair and a day without a care! (pause)

And I’ll love you forever! (pause)I’ll love you – ANYWHERE!

A touch-of-your-hand! Don’t-you-understand?

It’s been so hard ‘til now, (so)
