“STICKY.” a poem for: New Year’s Eve (to help with your celebration dining plans and other things maybe): December 31, 2019 (Tuesday)
“Sticky Rice” can be so nice,
With some chicken, an egg and a little spice.
Perhaps, Oriental . . . or with A Mexican flair,
I’m feeling it. STICKY, Baby. It’s “in the air.”
Its savoring smell makes me smile,
With some onions and carrots all the while;
I’m convinced: THIS IS THE PERFECT DISH,*
To be served in Texas with your fondest New Year’s wish.
In Texas, blackEyed peas and cabbage is KING;
They’re a GREAT “side dish” with this sticky thing.
What a great year of eating and celebration,
Can you FEEL it? (pause) Feel IT? The exhilaration?
Let’s all be STICKY in the year 2020;
We’ll stick to one another; iIt might be funny,
To see couples, loving and sticking around together,
And, of course, I don’t know (who can know) you know whether,
This will mean the elections will be successful too,
Where we can (hopefully) get a good president, who WON’T divide the country in two.
MY HOPE and wish for you ALL this year:
That you’ll stick (together) with your family&friends, and I’ll offer you a beer,
Or some wine or a fine mixed drink,
And we’ll stick with UPLIFTING IDEAS. Yes, we’re sure to think,
Of glorious things that we can all do,
STICKING AROUND HERE, and NOT feeling “blue,”
But looking to The Future with glory in our eyes.
I’m stickin’ to MY story,
‘Cause I’m a “stick man” kind o’ guy.
