#AceNewsReport – Mar.28: A Perth mother has walked free from WA’s Supreme Court after a jury took just two hours to find her not guilty of bludgeoning a woman to death and burying her body in bushland while her three young children waited in the car:

Perth mother found not guilty of bludgeoning Kym Taylor to death: ‘It was the second time Stacey Lea Wright, 30, stood trial accused of the murder of 37-year-old Kym Taylor, whose body was found in bushland at Bedfordale in Perth’s southern outskirts in November 2018’

Ms Wright’s father was also on trial accused of helping her to cover up the alleged crime.

The first trial ended when the jury could not reach a verdict, and the pair faced their second trial over the past three weeks.

It was alleged Ms Wright had used a tow ball, or a similar heavy object, to shatter Ms Taylor’s skull into 38 pieces.

The court was told she had spent the day driving her father and Ms Taylor — who he met on social media — around the metropolitan area, and it was alleged the murder happened after Ms Wright became angry about them using drugs.

Prosecutors said the Wrights initially left Ms Taylor’s body at the scene, but returned later in the night with Ms Wright’s three children in the car to bury it.

No forensic evidence: lawyer

Both Stacey Wright and her father denied having anything to do with Ms Taylor’s death.

Her lawyer argued that the last time his client saw Ms Taylor was when she dropped her off in Perth’s southern suburbs.

Her lawyer also said there was no forensic evidence, such as DNA, linking her to Ms Taylor’s death.

In interviews with police, William Wright maintained it was “a mate”, who was also in the car and whose identity is suppressed, who killed the 37-year-old while trying to sexually assault her.

That man was a key witness at both trials, but he denied responsibility for Ms Taylor’s death.

Both Stacey Wright and her father have been in custody since their arrest in December 2018.

After the jury delivered its not guilty verdicts they were told by Justice Joseph McGrath they were free to go.
