“WHERE IS FLOYD HIDING?”Β

“WHERE IS FLOYD HIDING?” a poem Sunday: 01/13/2019

I like to hide under the covers;
I like to hide – from Fathers and Mothers;
I like to hide, from hard and soft;
I like to hide and gently waft,
Aromatic Smoke, (pause) all around –
I LIKE TO HIDE WHILE OTHERS ARE BOUND,
To work – and prosper – and “make a go!”
And go outside, to watch The Show,
Or – be a show – or stand right out;
I like to hide and burp and pout,
And lie – in humble seclusion there,
And mess around, with-my-messy-hair,
And be 16 – or a hundred & 10,
(And love all women – and all men!)
And NOT say a work – or talk out loud,
And DECLARE that I AM – defiant and proud,
Or WHIMPER – like a puppy dog,
And close my eyes – and “saw a log!”
And, when I wake, I like to hide,
IN FULL VIEW – and go for a ride,
With my cloak of invisibility ON,

And – IF someone NOTICES ME – I’m SUDDENLY GONE!

“Stop hiding;
Be serious;
Do IT harder!”

I’m curious –

Where these come from
Who first employed
These demanding statements – Was it Floyd?
