“GENEROSITY.” a poem November 15, 2019 (Freya’s Day)
You’re ONLY INDEPENDENTLY WEALTH until YOU LOSE IT ALL;
Then, how are you gonna fare (fair)? Will you take a fall?
Or DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE? when “bad times” come?
It’s ALMOST ALWAYS a good idea to just kiss the bum,
Of most everyone you meet, just to keep ’em happy.
For instance, you can do this with a rich aunt or uncle or even your wellToDo pappy.
So, when you have extra WHY NOT SHARE?
It’ll be gone (probably) SOON ENOUGH, for MONEY, LIKE FRESH AIR,
CAN DISAPPEAR IN A MOMENT, especiallyIFsmokeORsmog,
Enters your little, silly, fluctuating BLOG.
When you’ve got enough, when you’ve been blessed in that way,
Throw out SOME* of the proceeds to those you meet, for, I say:
“Kindness delivered OFTEN COMES BACK,
To kiss you on the cheek.” Why not develop “the knack,”
Of GENEROSITY? butDon’tDoITjustForRETURN,
For expectations? Well, I think, can often BURN,
And disappoint THE self serving, MISERLY ONE,
Who does only what (s)he doesOnlyForProfit; that’s no fun.
HAVE SOME FUN HELPING OUT OTHERS,
When they’re down, for theyARE YourSisters&Brothers,
Like your ol’ buddy Felix with not enough to eat.
So, play a game: called it “THERE GO I,” (pause)
BUT for The Grace of GOD, I’d be the one with the heavy sigh.
- – There is something called: GIVING TOO MUCH; then you can live under a bridge at the edge of town and get mugged. That’s no fun. Plus, there may be some folks who love you and would prefer that NOT happen. Know what I mean?
