Believe ~

It’s easy to allow an event or a situation in our life to define us – maybe it’s a broken marriage, the loss of a job, a financial obstacle. We wrongly think, “There’s nothing I can do to ever get out of this or make things better”. We can get so distracted by our possibilities that we don’t see where we’re going, and we give up and get stuck right where we are.

Think about Abraham, the father of our faith. In Genesis 12, God called Abraham to leave his father’s home and go to a place that He would show him, proclaiming that He would make Abraham a great nation and that he would be a blessing to people worldwide. But Abraham took his nephew, ew Lot, with him, and when they found a place to settle, they had so much livestock between the two of them that the land could not support them. Before they stretched the plain of Jordan, which was well watered and filled with lush vegetation “like the garden of the Lord”. This fertile plain was set against the Judean wilderness with its meagre pastures and lots of dirt and stones. When Abraham gave Lot the first choice of the land, Lot picked the Jordan plain, leaving Abraham with the adversity of life in the high country.

It’s interesting that right after Lot decided to take the best land, the Lord said to Abraham, “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are” – Genesis 13 verse 14. He was saying, “Abraham, lift your eyes and look beyond the dirt and dust because it’s not your final destination. You will be a great nation. Get a vision of what I’ve called you to accomplish”. God was setting the tone for Abraham’s life. With the hardship before him, Abraham had this choice to make: “Am I going to believe God, or am I going to get stuck in my circumstances”? He chose to lift his eyes of faith and see the promises of God, and it’s something that he continued to do throughout his life.

God is declaring great things over you today, but if you’re going to see the fullness of His promises in your life, you’re going to have to develop the ability to see beyond where you are right now. God is saying, “Look up. I made you for more”. Don’t get stuck in your circumstances, but realise that beyond what you see are greater heights, more incredible victories, greater strength, and greater anointing. You need to know that where you are right now is not your final destination. You’re on a journey. Keep your eyes lifted. God has extraordinary things in store for you!

Life is like a bunch of roses. Some sparkle like raindrops. Some fade when there's no sun. Some just fade away in time. Some dance in many colors. Some drop with hanging wings. Some make you fall in love. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Life you can be sure of, you will not get out ALIVE.(sorry about that)
