“I’M SAM!” a poem August 14, 2019 – Odin’s Day, a.k.a.: Sam’s Day! To celebrate “Sam’s Day,” we’re all going to karaoke tonight at The Railroad Blues, here in Alpine, Texas, U. S. A. AND SING FOR SAM! For those of you who can not attend in person, you can – send a message to THE RAILROAD BLUES (on their Facebook) or call them at 432-837-3103 [and ask them] to tell Sam that EVERYBODY LOVES HIM! It will make him feel so good! Yay, Sam! ♥ What a great guy we are!
I’m Sam! You’re Sam! Aren’t-we-all just Sam? (pause)
Aren’t-we-all walkin’-’round-cocky? Sayin’: “I AM!?”
I-AM this, and I-AM that; (pause)
Maybe I’m skinny; maybe I’m fat!
But, I’M JUST SAM! Here! Today!
Gone? Tomorrow!? So, Good-Sam-Friends, I’d-just like-to-say:
“IF YOU- D I D LIVE EACH-DAY, AS IF IT WAS YOUR LAST,
YOUR DAY MIGHT ACTUALLY TURN-OUT – TO-BE KIND-OF A-BLAST!
You-might ‘overlook others’ faults;’
You-might be more generous – and buy everyone malts!”
And, IF others knew: “Well, this-here’s Sam’s LAST!”
I-wonder IF – they-might NOT cast,
That critical, threatening eye your way;
Instead-they-might-say: “Hey, Sam! Have-a-nice-day!”
And: “Sam, we’ve maybe had troubles in the past,
But, Sam, you-know, THEY NEED NOT LAST!”
And: “SAM, YOU’RE REALLY – A PRETTY GOOD GUY!”
(pause) Wouldn’t-it-be-cool if-you-could like make Sam cry,
Some tears of joy, and Sam-might-say: “I-never-knew,
I LOVE YOU TOO!”
