When it hits, we tense up. The presence of NO stampedes through our bodies. Our muscles tighten. We clench our teeth. We also feel it in our hearts.
Our tendency is to deny it, push it away, and distract ourselves. Or, we push ourselves through it as a detriment to ourselves and others. The problem is that these ways don’t give us the opportunity to get to the bottom of the matter.
Why does it feel so uncomfortable? Because it’s a call to action. It represents our internal tug-o-war…the part of us that wants to transform and grow, and the part of us that wants to play it safe.
Relinquish your resistance. Sit with it. Get to know it. Meeting with it allows it to reveal itself. More often than not it will uncover a hidden fear. And more often than not, when we face that fear with compassion and deep interest, the illusion disappears and the process unfolds in a natural way.
