WHAT DO WE DO WITH ALL THAT ENERGY?
As I continue my self psychoanalysis, I find I’m visiting some exciting places as I come out of my time of creative stagnation. For one thing, I’m feeling stirrings of increased energy, feelings I remember from my past. I’m also reminded that, when I’ve been in situations similar to this one, I often handled the energy poorly. This is not the time to get overwhelmed by what is going on.
When I was younger & a new idea would appear in my life, I’d get caught up in the excitement of the moment because I thought immediate action was called for. (Lots of guys operate with that mindset.) A project would start out with high hopes & as it evolved, I’d ignore advice from others, many of whom had better information than I did. Basically, I’d convinced myself that I could succeed at whatever the challenge was & hopefully, when all was said & done, I’d receive the proper respect & acknowledgement I so richly deserved.
So, after all the self psychoanalysis sessions, what was I hoping to accomplish with all that creative energy? On a personal level, I’m looking to add several things to my life, including my next great dog & a keyboard with headphones. Hey, dogs & music; what’s not to love? I’m hoping to have a dog & a keyboard by my next birthday (9/17/2020). I know the dog I’m looking for is out there & we shall know each other when we meet!
On a larger level, I’d like to be part of something that will put love & kindness into a world that can definitely use it. From what I can tell, we are living in a time of major social, cultural, economic & political evolution/revolution & it appears to be picking up steam before our very eyes. It may seem like the loudest jerks, the ones making the most noise, are winning because they are getting attention from the media, but, let us remember, victory doesn’t go to the ones making the most noise; victory goes to those that play the game the best!
Somewhere in my being, I think it is possible to elevate the collective consciousness to make the world a better place. What many of us have discovered to be true is that we’ve been conditioned to believe a certain body of ideas & beliefs, many of which we’ve discovered were based on doctored information or outright lies.
By now, most of us are familiar with a condition called “cognitive dissonance,” an experience where we are presented with 2 or more sources of information & we are unable to resolve the apparent conflict between different points of view, so we choose one & reject the other. Basically, cognitive dissonance is about being unwilling to accept ideas that might appear to be in conflict, even though both might bring benefits to how we live our lives.
In my time on social media, I’ve run into quite a few people who have accused me of suffering from cognitive dissonance and/or projecting. LOL I’m probably guilty of both of those things. I’ve also noticed that those people who accuse others of cognitive dissonance and/or projecting always seem to know when others are doing it, but they never seem to know when they are the guilty of the same behavior.
Funny thing, most people seem to be familiar with cognitive dissonance, but there’s a whole other side to this concept that hardly anybody wants to even talk about called “cognitive resonance.” where people confront ideas & information that will enhance their lives & accept it. Most of us, myself included, are still adjusting to a set of circumstances that have rapidly changed the reality of the world.
Bottom line, I don’t know where all of this is going & we don’t know when or how all of this motion is going to resolve itself. I have no intention of going anywhere; I’m in this for the long haul! Do not lose hope or belief in the power of love. Much love to all!
(As I read over the text of this piece, I hope it holds together & makes sense. Here’s hoping you’re having a great weekend! Much love!)
