SA Labor MP’s staffer Benjamin Waters charged with producing child exploitation material was arrested yesterday by the South Australia Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) following an investigation by SA Police and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

The 38-year-old has worked as a staffer for Labor Member for Hurtle Vale Nat Cook.
Mr Waters has been charged with one count of producing child abuse material through a carriage service and four counts of possessing child exploitation material.
He applied for bail in the Adelaide Magistrates Court this afternoon.Benjamin Waters faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court.(Facebook)
The court heard he had no prior convictions but he was remanded in custody until next week when a decision will be made on home detention bail.
In a statement, Ms Cook said she was “shocked” to learn of the charges against her staffer, and that her office has “fully cooperated with Australian Federal Police and South Australia Police”.
She said she requested his employment “be immediately terminated” and that she understands Mr Waters had been expelled from the Labor Party following a meeting of the state executive this morning.
As part of the investigation, South Australia’s Parliament House was raided by the AFP after the Lower House adjourned about 6:00pm on Tuesday.SA Labor MP Nat Cook made a statement following the arrest of her staffer.(ABC News)
