The stars at night are big and bright at Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas. From Guadalupe Peak, the highest point in the state, an ocean of stars can be seen rising over the jagged ridge line of El Capitan and the plains of West Texas. Photographer Pierce Ingram marveled at the sight, “I had been planning this particular photograph for two years, waiting on the right conditions to make the 8 hour drive from Austin. Finally, I stood atop Guadalupe Peak and watched the sunset in the west and soon, the blue glow of twilight emerged, stars began to show and before me rose the Milky Way. There is truly nothing more spectacular than standing between Texas and the heavens.” Photo courtesy of Pierce Ingram.
