An atheist was rowing on Loch Ness in Scotland one day, when suddenly the Loch Ness monster attacked and grabbed him from his boat.
He panicked and shouted “God help me!”, and suddenly, the monster and everything around him just froze.
A voice from the heavens boomed “You say you don’t believe in me, but now you’re asking for my help?”
The atheist looked up and said, “Well, ten seconds ago I didn’t believe in the Loch Ness Monster either.”

Welcome to the Gutenberg Editor

Of Mountains & Printing Presses

The goal of this new editor is to make adding rich content to WordPress simple and enjoyable. This whole post is composed of pieces of content—somewhat similar to LEGO bricks—that you can move around and interact with. Move your cursor around and you’ll notice the different blocks light up with outlines and arrows. Press the arrows to reposition blocks quickly, without fearing about losing things in the process of copying and pasting. What you are reading now is a text block the most basic block of all. The text block has its own controls to be moved freely around the post…

… like this one, which is right aligned.

Headings are separate blocks as well, which helps with the outline and organization of your content.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Handling images and media with the utmost care is a primary focus of the new editor. Hopefully, you’ll find aspects of adding captions or going full-width with your pictures much easier and robust than before.
Beautiful landscape
If your theme supports it, you’ll see the “wide” button on the image toolbar. Give it a try.
Try selecting and removing or editing the caption, now you don’t have to be careful about selecting the image or other text by mistake and ruining the presentation.

The Inserter Tool

Imagine everything that WordPress can do is available to you quickly and in the same place on the interface. No need to figure out HTML tags, classes, or remember complicated shortcode syntax. That’s the spirit behind the inserter—the (+) button you’ll see around the editor—which allows you to browse all available content blocks and add them into your post. Plugins and themes are able to register their own, opening up all sort of possibilities for rich editing and publishing. Go give it a try, you may discover things WordPress can already add into your posts that you didn’t know about. Here’s a short list of what you can currently find there:
  • Text & Headings
  • Images & Videos
  • Galleries
  • Embeds, like YouTube, Tweets, or other WordPress posts.
  • Layout blocks, like Buttons, Hero Images, Separators, etc.
  • And Lists like this one of course 🙂

Visual Editing

A huge benefit of blocks is that you can edit them in place and manipulate your content directly. Instead of having fields for editing things like the source of a quote, or the text of a button, you can directly change the content. Try editing the following quote:
The editor will endeavor to create a new page and post building experience that makes writing rich posts effortless, and has “blocks” to make it easy what today might take shortcodes, custom HTML, or “mystery meat” embed discovery.Matt Mullenweg, 2017
The information corresponding to the source of the quote is a separate text field, similar to captions under images, so the structure of the quote is protected even if you select, modify, or remove the source. It’s always easy to add it back. Blocks can be anything you need. For instance, you may want to add a subdued quote as part of the composition of your text, or you may prefer to display a giant stylized one. All of these options are available in the inserter. You can change the amount of columns in your galleries by dragging a slider in the block inspector in the sidebar.

Media Rich

If you combine the new wide and full-wide alignments with galleries, you can create a very media rich layout, very quickly:
Accessibility is important — don’t forget image alt attribute
Sure, the full-wide image can be pretty big. But sometimes the image is worth it. The above is a gallery with just two images. It’s an easier way to create visually appealing layouts, without having to deal with floats. You can also easily convert the gallery back to individual images again, by using the block switcher. Any block can opt into these alignments. The embed block has them also, and is responsive out of the box:
You can build any block you like, static or dynamic, decorative or plain. Here’s a pullquote block:
Code is Poetry The WordPress community
< p style=”text-align:center;”> If you want to learn more about how to build additional blocks, or if you are interested in helping with the project, head over to the GitHub repository.

“The Internet’s Problems Can’t Be Solved with an Algorithm”

Despite Facebook’s efforts to make its platform less anonymous than its predecessors, it is painfully clear that people seem to have no problem piling on the hate when tapping away on a keyboard or phone, comfortably distant from the consequences of their words for the real person reading them many fiber-optic cables away. Facebook, along with most of its social media counterparts, operates in part based on the Silicon Valley hypothesis that if all ideas are distributed freely, the most valuable ones will rise to the top. Instead of validating that seemingly uncontroversial point, however, our collective experiences online have proven it wrong. The marketplace of ideas has become an environment with no barriers to transmitting vitriol to millions, largely negating the internet’s egalitarian, utopian goals.The runaway financial success of highly targeted pay-per-view ads has warped software design into a competition to build the most addictive digital slot machine, masquerading as social engagement. The longer we stay hooked, the more advertising we see, and the more eyeballs can be sold for a fraction of a penny apiece. This is why you get an email if you don’t sign in for a few days. This is why your apps throttle your notifications, slowly distributing the likes on your vacation photos over the course of minutes rather than seconds. It’s an elaborate manipulation to keep you coming back for more.The cacophony more closely resembles citizens band radio, complete with handles, harassment, and anonymous threats. When most everyone shouts, few listen.

Letter to my Husband

I wish I could remember that first day,
First hour, first moment of your meeting me,
If bright or dim the season, it might be
ASummer or Winter for aught I can say;
So unrecorded did it slip away,
So blind was I to see and to foresee,
So dull to mark the budding of my tree
That would not blossom for many a May
If only I could recollect it, such
A day of days! I let it come and go
As traceless as a thaw of bygone snow;
It seemed to mean so little, meant so much;
If only now I could recall that touch,
First touch of hand in hand – Did one but know!

My husband read this poem to me one cold night snuggled by the fire

I laid there silently watching his mouth and smiling to myself like a kitten with a bowl of cream, you know that smirk you get thinking ” he’s MINE”

I want to die while you love me,
While yet you hold me fair,
While laughter lies upon my lips
And lights are in my hair
I want to die while you love me,
And bear to that still bed,
Your kisses turbulent, unspent
To warm me when I’m dead
I want to die while you love me
Oh, who would care to live
Till love has nothing more to ask
And nothing more to give!
I want to die while you love me
And never, never see
The glory of this perfect day
Grow dim or cease to be

My husband is perfectly suited to me cause he knows exactly why I love to listen to POETRY with him, wouldn’t you!

And can be rekindled by a spark of another person

Thank you for being my best friend

Putting up with me

Laughing at me and with me

And for watching my back

For sharing your sad moments and mine with you

For making me feel cared for

And sharing your truth with me

She’s A Nymphomaniac!”

“I DO!” a poem. Sept. 17, 2018 (Mo0nday) a.k.a.: “I Love My Ol’ Lady Because (1) She IS Myne (I Can Kiss & Cuddle Her A LOT!); (2) She’s OLD (Which Means That She Is XXXperienced … ); And (3) She’s A LADY (Mmm-mm! Yummy!) … AND! … She’s A Nymphomaniac!”

We’ll be in the groove,

And things’ll be better; they’ll THEN be all right:

NEW & IMPROVED! There’s HAPPY in sight?!

A washer we need, so we don’t have-to toil –

With hands-buckets-(and)-rollers – We-got (a) spiffy-’lectric-coil,

And the clothes’ll be DONE, in 2 seconds flat!

NEW & IMPROVED! Is just where it’s at,

And we’ll have extra time, to-figure-what-to-do,

AND – we’ll have smoother skin, ‘til the dryer breaks too,

And THEN we can phone a repairman and pay,

Lots of our money – The American Way!

There’re ALWAYS “advantages” to NEW & IMPROVED,

AND! Some REAL “downsides!” (pause) “Maybe we’ve goof(v)ed!”

I need a NEW partner! THIS ONE – lacks some luster!

NEW & IMPROVED! The new one WON’T fluster;

She won’t fluster me! (OH, yes, sir, she WILL!)

Fraught with objections – about this-thing & that,

And NOW – you regret! (pause) “changing your HAT!”

IF new comes-do-not (pause) do-not-EXPECT-“improved,”

BUT! IF NEW COMES A L O N G ! Smile! (folks) for IT’S PROVED,

That those friendly folks (pause) who are kinda OK,

With-what-they-have-got – have a less frantic day!

Yea, I-know – maybe – some boredom appears,

BUT! Cheer up, me Bucko – let go of your fears!

Let go of your tears-close-your-eyes-and-breathe-DEEP:

The one you got NOW – is JUST PERFECT! So – keep,

And – you will have – EVERY – LOVER I DO!! 🙂 -kisses for my Sweetie!

“THE PERFECT GIRL FOR ME!” a poem! a.k.a.: “Re: NOT A Terrible Ordeal At The Karaoke Bar, And Here’s Why!” Sept. 18, 2018 – Tuesday!

“THE PERFECT GIRL FOR ME!” a poem! a.k.a.: “Re: NOT A Terrible Ordeal At The Karaoke Bar, And Here’s Why!” Sept. 18, 2018 – Tuesday!

There’s a girl in town, who frequents the bars;

She walks & she talks & she won’t ride in cars!

There are simply no fellows with an interest in her,

So I’ll never-have-to-duel – or call-anyone “Sir!”

And she has no comadres, who gossip or tease,

Or try to bring “bad boys” down to their knees!

She seldom will eat, needs no lunches or dinners!

She-has-NO-plans-for-a-family, and she spurns all “the winners!”

Her wardrobe is bare, for she shops second-hand,

And she has little interest in possessions or land,

And she never makes judgment and is never depressed;

She needs no attention! Doesn’t think like the rest!

And she doesn’t expect me to call anytime,

And she just loves to listen – to all of my rhyme!

And she loves, yes! She loves! Without expectation,

Of anything – other-than – some drama-tization,

And her name is NOT Margie, yet her figure is fine,

But NO lady’s Margie – no-one’s-that-divine –

And I don’t-think-I-desire – to deal with all,

Of her luggage and baggage, that I’ll find in her hall,

BUT! I DO-want-to-carry my Margie’s-dress-stuff,

And, maybe, one day I will say: “That’s enough!!”

But, who knows? Perhaps! Cayce’s* theory-is conclusive:

That the perfect attraction – provides an exclusive,

FIT! and a yearning – for one SPECIAL ONE,

Who-you’ve-fallen-in-Love-with! ([A] “Thunderbolt” from My Hon!)

Which has struck at my core – and, perhaps, it’s ALL DONE!**

No-more-looking-with-some-passion – for a mate! There is none,

AND – that prettiest girl – in the bars – doesn’t exist,

And all of those things, I will not have to twist,

And turn & adapt, regarding-things that she needs,

You see, I’d much rather (pause) invest-chivalrous-deeds,

In the direction of Margie – so pretty and fine,

So kind and well-organized – Yes, sir, she’s divine!!

And she inspires me to do, as I’ve not done before,

And my life’s beyond measure, as I act as her whore,

And I dream of her hair and of washing it long,

And I think on her shoulder is where I belong,

And, if I do stray – in a dream or a vision,

And caress someone else, with some sexual collision,

When I wake in the morning, IF the sun shines once more,

I’ll close my eyes tight, and I’ll pray, ‘til I’m sore:

That the girl next-to-me is Margie, my Dear,

For in-the-light-of-The-Sun –

She’s the one I want here! 🙂

Letter to my Husband

My Darling do you know I need you

Do you know I think about you every moment when we are parted

Do you know why I expect nothing from from you

Do you know why I don’t ask you any questions about where you are

Do you wonder why I say ” I don’t Care ”

Yes Dear, I see that apprehension in those dazzling black eyes say those words ” I don’t Care”

And when you stare at me do you now why I drop my eyes in submissive pose

Do you know why I don’t ring you, Honey

This Woman just knows exactly why I love you just the way you are and exactly what you need.

“This Woman knows how much you love me cause you will always come home to me sooner or later”

“THE TORMENTING INSPIRATION OF MY LIFE!” a poem, written by (you-guessed-it) LOVE: Love Herself. So it is TOTALLY about NO ONE I know – or – it’s about EVERYONE I know!! 🙂 Remember! LOVE wrote this poem; NOT me! and … it is NOT about YOU … or YOU … or YOU … ❤ – or you!

She’s up and down, with-a-smile; then a frown!

She’s my biggest inspiration – AND – my fondest frus-tur-ation!

And THEN – She concludes (much) – THIS AND THAT!

Has she “figured me out?”* She’s like a cat,

Aloof and crafty, with selfish needs,

To cage this Juan, who bleeds & bleeds!

[Remember, this is NOT about you, AND LOVE is writing it, OK!]

She LOVES to lie – AND – tell the Truth,

With “prints of Darkness:” “COME-TO-MY-’BOOTH!’”

And writhe a while – and talk with me;

“Well, NOW, just-let-me-talk – and-you-MUST-agree,

With all my thoughts!” – and THEN, she’ll turn,

And light-me-on-fire – and watch me burn,

And taunt and laugh and lie and sing,

And deny our marriage, until ANOTHER RING,

Another wedding ring’s secured!

“YOU’LL NEVER LEAVE!” Is my vision blurred?

Or – do I see clearly – that there’s NO WAY OUT;

She gets all that she wants** – and then she’ll-still-pout,

[Remember, this is NOT about you, AND LOVE is writing it, OK!]

For “COMPLAINTS,” they are her middle name;

She’ll curse the Heavens; I’ll get the blame!

The strategy? Imbalance HIM!

Set-him-on-fire! and THEN – make-him-dim;

Douse-him with water, cold and sweet,

Then-she’ll-have-something nice to eat!

IF-I’m TOO HARD, the-water will soften,

So she can chew on me quite often,

And snatch my liver from me – dai-ly,

And chew – as-I-watch – her eat (me) gaily,

As I bleed – and re-grow another,

Scrumptious LIVER – I-shall-not-recover:

I won’t escape these chains of mine,***

I’ll (probably) never get her Valentine!

[Remember, this is NOT about you, AND LOVE is writing it, OK!]

BUT – one soft day, at-The-Break-of-Dawn,

She arrived again – to eat her John,

And nothing-was-there except a note,

And this is what she read-I wrote,

“I never was! I’m just a specter!”

And that one line, it really wrecked her;

“I AM still here; I’ll always be,

For-I’m-the-one-who-ADORES-you, see?

And, when your eyes do surely open,

You’ll realize, you’ve-been-forever-gropin’

Are slightly dispersed (pause) tempting other Madames,

[Remember, especially here, this is NOT about you, AND LOVE is writing it!]

With THAT, She paused – and put down the key,

That keyed The Lock that held HIS chains;

She cried a while – and felt Heart pains!

The Stars Above;

SO SAT MY LADY – Her name: is LOVE ❤

[See, the woman is LOVE; it’s just about LOVE chaining Prometheus, the incarnation of stupid guys, tricked by The Unknown God {see, e.g.: St. Paul’s declaration in The Book of Acts} to seek LOVE, the attention of pretty girls, who chain up their sorry boyfriend’s a – – – s and beat them senseless (not that they have any sense to start with) and eat their liver (taking them for all they’re worth) and, then, at some point, LOVE realizes she has just been beating the proverbial “dead horse,” and we all know that you usually can not rouse a dead horse UNLESS, of course, you are Jesus, who can say: “Arise, Horse, And Ride!” However, Jesus don’t work cheap – He requires a pledge! Like your first-born male child! or IF you have a stout girl who can pull a plow, well, sometimes he’ll perform your miracle for your first-born female child. Anyway, see? This poem is all about allegories and metaphors and myths and magic! Just like all my poems, which are just written on Facebook to give me something to do – while I am waiting to die – or – go to Australia and mate with a kangaroo, whichever comes first. {We’re thinking of naming our first-born child BOOBALOO! What do you think?}
fin. ❤

** – which is EVERYTHING! She wants it all; she deserves it all; I WILL give her ALL!! 🙂

*** – Where would I go? Besides, I am too lazy!! 🙂
