“ANOTHER HAND!” a poem. a.k.a.: “The Wizardry Of Love!” Friday, 05/11/18.
A Man’s son (was) CONDEMNED! to-his-death-one-dark-day,
Because that poor son, in a sad, drunken way,
Had struck a-little-girl, with his vehicle, you see!
The-son-didn’t-mean-to, so The Father would agree,
To spend all His money, for some “magical dust;”
Spent all His money – on a “sham” he did trust.
The Father, so struck with sadness and grief,
Gave all His money – to some would-be thief –
“Throw in the air, and you’ll save your son Gus!”
So, that morning, at-The-Hanging, with dust in the air,
Gus’ dad closed his eyes, with his hands in his hair,
And His son stretched the rope – in the usual way,
And it tugged at his neck,
But, much later we’d say:
“WHEN THE ROPE THAT WAS NEW, REACHED ITS LENGTH, ALL STRETCHED OUT,
IT S N A P P E D,
So, what’s this about?
